Joosh's Juice Bar: The Blue Banana Berry Adventure Recommended ages: Preschool Art: Beautiful, colorful art that will interest any child. Story line: Two friends learn about healthy eating and the benefits of eating fruits over junk food. The two friends go looking for berries and instead find a mysterious treat that isn't a treat at all. They learn a valuable lesson about what is good for their bodies and what is not.  Educational Message: This book teaches about healthy eating habits. It's also a rhyming book as the story is told in a kinda sing song rhyme.  Review: The book is very whimsical in nature with little rhymes often disconnected in the layout. The rhymns are short, fun, and silly, exactly the perfect way to interest a child while teaching them a moral lesson without them knowing it. The art is adorably done and colorful with enough actions going on to encourage discussions about the pictures. I like the friendship that the characters share, it makes them endearing. All in all it was a cute read with a nice message and the kids enjoyed it. We have read it a few times and they have figured out the intended message on their own. I like books that are clear in their message and stay true to what they have to say. I would recommend the book to anyone wanting to teach their kids about eating healthy. Mommy thoughts: I do not know what the mother was thinking sending her baby off to look for berries with her brother that clearly is not mature enough to babysit but I can get past my anger at a made up mother who thought a monkey and a young boy could care for her toddler in a jungle filled with grouchy toads and special berries. The kids didn't notice but us helicopter mommas notice risky situations involving toddlers, even fictional toddlers with cute brown eyes, braids with colorful hair balls, and a tendency to smell flowers.
